So Little Time

The prisoner exchange between Israel and the PLO in 1971 swapped the remains of an Israeli soldier for eight Palestinian prisoners and the dead body of Deeb Al-Asmar. The actor, Lina, narrates Deeb’s story, while dissolving documents and photographs in a container, slowly liquifying the ink into ephemeral traces. An ambiguous plot unfolds, where the martyr confuses his real life events with the constructed myth and political propaganda after his reported death. The set, a combination of rigid rectangles, tries to contain the organic loose fragments of what is an absurd re-telling of this transaction.
